Hurricane John.

They're just getting around to the name "John" after all these years?

An earlier Hurricane John is famous!

- a much safer name than say Pedro - I wonder if there would be much outrage if hurricanes were named after fictional characters? I wonder if the Public would be as eager to evacuate if hurricane Huck Finn was on its way? "Hurricane Bambi has killed 359 people so far" - I guess those headlines wouldn't sit well with many people. I think I need to retract what I said about dawdling over fictional names in a previous comment I made.

The revolving list of Eastern North Pacific (as well as Atlantic and other names) can be found here.

Oh, I see they picked 'Katia' to replace 'Katrina' and 'Rina' to replace 'Rita.'

Why even bother?

They should have picked something really different so it wouldn't remind people at all, for example, 'Kimberly' and 'Romaine.'
