So everyone was piling on Hillary on the Sunday shows...

That is, except for Hillary herself, whom we see a lot of in those clips. I don't know if it's all in the editing, but those attempts she makes to defend herself make her look even more unappealing.

I can't watch it. Tell me, is she still saying she has 35 years experience? I get 8, 10 tops.

Even so, she still could get my vote. Ten months is a long time, and things will change. That Kennedy supports Obama has the same kiss of death feel as Gore's support for Howard Dean.

Of course I love my little boy, no matter he does. Mr. Wilson needs to understand that Dennis isn't trying to antagonize him. You know, it's his good intentions that get him into trouble. Dennis picked those roses because he adores me.

Kudos to Josh Marshall and TPM. This is a great edit/mashup, perfect for us attention-challenged internet media consumers. I learned a lot and was never bored.

This is the role of the Internet; not just presenting news but consuming it and regurgitating it for this new medium, which wants less exposition, less throat clear, more going right to the point.

Anyway, I'll be fascinated to see whether the Clinton back of tricks has a roadmap out of this debacle. I think their idea of using Latinos as a "firewall" is incredibly stupid. In California, they've picked the wrong guy to carry their water --- Mayor Villaraigosa, who is the liberal westside's idea of what a Hispanic is like, and has never played those kinds of politics himself. The black vs. brown rancor mostly takes place at a level below the mainstream political radar -- where mostly you have non-voters carrying out these streetfights. The blacks who resent Latinos and vice versa are junior high school students and low-skilled workers who see their jobs going to illegals who accept subminimum wages. The Latinos who vote are not swayed by this kind of appeal to prejudice. They'll probably be insulted by it.

This notion that Billary are heroes to Hispanics? It's a new meme that doesn't have a solid fact to support it. What's the great achievement of the Clinton Administration that Latinos cherish? Am I forgetting something? Plus, I don't think Latinos were quite as enamored of the idea of Clintons-as-victims as other groups. The religiosity in that demographic tends to look down on shameful behavior, rather than looking at it from some kind of outlaw romanticism perspective.

I will agree, the Clintons used to be heroes to blacks, but they've pissed that away, haven't they? Why would Latinos trust them after seeing how their former African American allies played this way?

I don't think anyone read my last posting.

I went home with someone that had a Cat in The Hat themed bathroom.

Does anyone know the indignity and pain I am suffering now as a result of this embarrassment?

I am devastated I tell you.

By the way you need to post more. This blog has been getting behind on all that is happening.

Get with it Mary.

The video gave me the impression that a lot of people in the media really don't like the Clintons.

I think Clinton comparing Obama to Jackson was more accurate than many of the White liberal media creepers want to admit.

Obama and Jackson are both black political activists based in black Chicago.

Jesse had "Keep Hope Alive", Obama has "The Audacity of Hope".

Obama lost the overwhelming majority of the White vote in Iowa, N.H. and South Carolina.

Jackson won more than simply the black vote in his wins in South Carolina and Michigan.

I don't see how Jackson could have won S.C. without carrying some of the White vote. Obama lost 75% of the White vote.

The revisionist fraud is not comparing Obama to Jackson as a primarily black candidate. The fraud is denying that Jackson actually got a percentage of the White vote in some states not far from the percentages that Obama is getting.

The White liberals who invested their romantic emotions in Obama seem to have a discomfort with him being represented as a black male connected to the black community. True he was born of a White woman and raised and schooled predominantly by White people which is part of the deep seated reason for his appeal to certain White people.

But they are clearly nervous about Obama the black male, married to a black woman, belonging to a black racist church who is viewed by the black voters as a black candidate no less than Jesse Jackson. Black America has no problem seeing Obama for what he is. Why are so many white liberals nervous about anybody White pointing that out?

Maybe it's a kind of liberal White racism that can only "fall in love" with a black male if he is properly "de-blackened".

John Stodder is, as usual, quite right.  As someone who was born in Los Angeles and who has Mexican relatives who are long-time Southern California residents, I can tell you that the Clintons' behavior has been alien and offensive to many Mexicans and Latinos generally.  Outsiders often don't appreciate how socially conservative Latino culture can be.  Latinos are, in general, politically liberal, but that doesn't mean they support the whole white Boomer liberal agenda, or want to have much to do with the subculture, including the likes of the Clintons, that produced that agenda.

There is a large minority, especially among Mexicans, who are politically conservative as well.  My relatives generally have been solid Reagan Republicans for two reasons:  They were businessmen who saw that the Democratic Party was against their interests; and they were Catholic to one degree or another, and were offended by the Democrats' attachment to abortion and other elements of the liberal social agenda.  Also, the figure of Ronald Reagan was an appealing one to a lot of Mexicans, because he resonated with aspects of the culture in ways other Anglo politicians, including the Clintons, could never do.

Although it breaks through from time to time, the black/brown antipathy has generally existed just below the surface of polite discourse, as John Stodder says. I differ with John Stodder, though, in that I have been shocked at the degree of prejudice and anti-black sentiment expressed to me privately by many Mexicans, my relatives included, who were not "junior high school students and low-skilled workers."  I think this divide is deeper than most people, especially white liberals, would care to know about.  That it should be exploited politically is at once unsurprising, cynical, and, I must say, depressing.  I could be wrong, but my sense is that Mr. Obama is the one black man at least some Mexicans could vote for, although this shouldn't be overstated.

If you want to understand the kind of liberalism that many Latino people embrace, consider the social teachings of the Catholic Church.  Latinos are not, some of my relatives excepted, to be found at daily Mass or reciting their Rosaries twice a day, any more than anyone else.  It's just that the Catholic teachings in this area have a deep, mutually-reinforcing relationship with Latinos' experience and the larger worldwide Spanish-speaking culture generally.  The Catholic Church has never stood for laissez-faire capitalism or had any love for that old Moloch, the Market.  The Church's teachings reinforce ideas of economic justice and the responsibility for those less fortunate.  This has been a major influence on the Democratic Party, but non-Catholic Democrats should realize that these teachings are rigorous, consistent and often at odds with large pieces of the modern, white liberal agenda.

Latinos, like anyone else, are quite capable of voting for the lesser of evils.  Both Mrs. Clinton and Obama look like imperfect candidates from a Latino perspective.  It's not clear that Mrs. Clinton will have a lock on those votes in the end, despite whatever Mexican face she may try to attach to her campaign.  It could be that the lack of enthusiasm for either candidate could depress the Latino vote, thus benefiting Obama.

BTW, I say "Mexican," because people of Mexican origin usually describe themselves this way.  Longtime Mexican-Americans will call themselves "Mexican" in the same way that descendants of Italian, Polish, Irish, and other immigrants continue to refer to themselves as "Italian," etc.  Also, there are distinct national identities within the general "Latino" category, so people often refer to themselves as "Guatemalan," "Puerto Rican," etc.  "Latino" is used among Spanish speakers in the same sense it has in English, so it is a much better term that the stupid, imprecise, and vaguely offensive "Hispanic."

I didn't think it was possible to "make her look even more unappealing." But I was wrong. Her speaking of Bill with such warm words made me want to puke and her laugh is like fingernails on a blackboard.

Obama's correct about the partisan ship and meanness that the Clinton's have fostered. It has hurt the country more than most will admit. It's time for the Clintons to go back to Arkansas or Harlem or somewhere out of our sight.

LEAVE HILLARY ALONE!

As NOW says, everyone who criticizes Hillary Clinton is guilty of GANG RAPE:

http://www.nownys.org/pr_2008/pr_011108.html

"In short, gang raping of women is commonplace in our culture both physically and metaphorically."

Common. In our culture. Gang rape.

So says the National Organization for Women.

Well to be perfectly fair, so says the NY branch of the NOW. A lot of feminist web sites disavow that asinine rant.

I listened to Hillary on CBS with Bob Schieffer--She actually trotted out the sleep deprivation defense for hubby's loose cannon mouth. As I look at her 35 yearts of experience, most of which was at the Rose Law firm, she is more like Lurleen Wallace than, say, Eleanor Roosevelt. And at least Mrs. Wilson, along with Colonel House, ran the country when Wilson was incapcitated with a stroke.

Possibly the phoniest performance by Hillary yet. Scary how she just slips on a new persona depending on the context. Even scarier to think what she's really like--if there even is an authenic person left in there. Those "evil witch" comparisons are looking more and more accurate.

Hillary will not go far teaming up with Tony Villaraigosa and Gavin Newsome, two men in political office that publicly cheated on their wives. Brought them humiliation too. Gee, I wonder where I've heard that scenario before?????

Hillary has got to stop the fake laugh when she's asked a question. If she needs time to think, why not just say, "That's an excellent question;" "I'm glad you asked me that;" etc.? Mix it up a little bit.

FLS: my wife made exactly the same observation about the little fake laugh. I will be glad to tell her she isn't alone in her perception. I would love to see a focus group response to her laugh.

Obama's demeanor really is a breath of fresh air. I'm coming to the opinion that if Hillary is the nominee, it's likely to be a close election. I think Obama wins in a landslide.
