Should a man wear a tie the color of his wife's outfit... even when the color is orange?

You know, when it's orange, it looks so intentional. So uxorious. But Cindy's got a thoroughly deliberate admiring look, and you can believe it's sincere because her hair is tousled just so.

Should we read the article too? "Campaign Flashpoint: Patriotism and Service." There's Barack, wearing a flag pin and a red-and-white striped tie and waving at us in the company of 3 flags.
“I will never question the patriotism of others in this campaign,” Mr. Obama said, speaking over the applause of hundreds of supporters. “And I will not stand idly by when I hear others question mine.”
He'd like to establish a rule not to talk about patriotism. Can we also have a rule not to talk about hope and change?

The orange tie makes his teeth look yellow.

I wonder who chose it?

Where did you find McCain's senior prom picture?

Orange is one of my favorite colors. Wearing matching colors is a bit too cutesy.

Her hair color needs a more soft and natural look.

He'd like to establish a rule not to talk about patriotism.

Then he should cut it out of his campaign ads: 'love of country;' 'the country I love.'

Burp...

ps....what give him the right to 'establish the rules' Perhaps he should sponsor legislation so we cannot talk about or question patriotism?

Actually, I sometimes do that when dressing for church, if (a) I have a tie that matches or goes with my wife's outfit and (b) that tie goes with the suit I happen to wear that day.

The scary part, however, is when my wife and I are dressing (separately) to go run some errands and find we've picked matching outfits (e.g., black shirts and levis). I go change immediately. :-) ..bruce..

Like bwebster, I will also occasionally find myself in a matched outfit with my wife (I'm usually dressed first, it's HER fault). And I will change.

I just noticed: not only does his tie match her outfit (It is a nice shade of salmony orange), but his teeth match her hair!

Those are wooden teeth.

You can buff out only so much.

I am hardly some kind of fashionista, but I have to confess that this is the first orange tie I have seen.

And we're still waiting for Obama to cite one example of someone questioning his patriotism (direct quotes only).

Maybe Cindy thinks that by channeling Nancy Reagan people will view her husband as Ronnie.

That's right, let's not question the Arab's patriotism.

Maybe a lower cut dress would make the old guy next to her appear to be ever so slightly more vital than your average 70 year old. Pretty sad.

So-I try to trap someone by getting a reaction to the McCain Couple photo-and -

Where they at? -The University of Tennessee?

Geez -is that even the right orange for that?

Obama:And I will not stand idly by-

OK isn't this what he does best?

Idle-but Now he won't?

He finally found something to get fired up about-and it's personal.

This somehow reminds me of his experience-and one of the phone calls I got from his crew.

Obamarianian: He has experience bringing diverse groups of people together.

Me: Really-um what's his experience-I forgot what he did before he was a Senator.
How did he bring different groups together?

Obamarianian:Um let me get someone else-they can answer that question.

Me: OK then.

Obamarianian II: Well you do know that he went to Harvard of course, he went to law school, and he gave up high paying jobs on Wall Street to become a community organizer, he was a state senator for seventeen years and the Constitution is really important to him, and that's been shreaded lately-heh, heh-as you know, but that's reeally important to him because he is a Constitutional law professor.

Me: Ok then.{Im' thinking of re-asking the second question but decide I'd be torturing them.}

Of course I haven't heard an example of that yet...

Her face could benefit from a softer, more natural look, too. But that train has left the station.

“I will never question the driving habits of others in this campaign,” Senator Kennedy said, speaking over the applause of hundreds of supporters. “And I will not stand idly by when I hear others question mine.”

Same thing.

Team Axelrod and their media enablers are fairly slick and persistent in their efforts to have their Teleprompter Orator declare he will nobly not attack others in matters he is weak or suspect in, and in return he expects them to Rise to the Soaring Moral Heights of Obamatude and not attack him.

The other strategies Team Axelrod use in pulling Obama and surrogates strings are (1) deflection and (2)Expressing Disappointment that others failed to reach his moral level, and so let him down..

1. When you hear Obama say "distraction" it is almost always done by the writers and handlers with the intent of getting successful deflection away from something Obama is vulnerable on.

Thus, Rev Wright was a "distraction" from the "real issues" of health care, investigating the evil CEOs, bringing "hope" to the oppressed.
And Iraq and the Surge working is a "distraction" from the only security threat the US faces - namely one terrorist being free.

2. "Disappointment" is the writers and thinkers of Team Axelrod positioning Obama away from his numerous errors of judgment about who he associates with or a numbnuts vote he cast.
Thus Obama can nobly and with cool attachment observe the people who were wonderful but then after showing Obama's great choices were good ones initially- fell - and "let him down".
That's not the Rev Wright I knew for 20 years, his recent changes and statements make me sad for him. "Thats not the Tony Rezko I worked with 10 years ago". "I am personally disappointed with Geraldine Ferraro's remarks, after all she meant as a symbol to Democrats and women everywhere." "My grandmother is like Rev Wright, I'm sorry to have to honestly say and humble my wise self in doing so."

Bearbee - ps....what give him the right to 'establish the rules' Perhaps he should sponsor legislation so we cannot talk about or question patriotism?

His adulatory media and influential power brokers do. Long as they let Obama get away with making up the "rules" that take his liabilities off the table - Team Axelrod will continue to push "new rules".

"Black Messiah is Right! Black Messiah is Wright...err...Right!"

Team Axelrod has done all this before with blacks they have packaged and sold successfully to the public many times before, beginning with Mayor Washington going through Massachusetts Gov Deval Patrick. Then landing the really big fish in Obama who reads teleprompters better than any client they have ever had. Who they wanted to make Senator and groom for Prez in 2012 before everything broke their way in 2008.

Much of Obama's speech stuff is word for word right out of the nonspecific Post-Modern "hop, change, you are your own future" stuff Team Axelrod's writers churned out for other candidates like Patrick and Streeter. It is all wonderfully recyclable and works even better for swaying the masses with Obama's friendly but morally upright and "profound truths" black preacher style of speaking he studied and learned in the last 5 years after being told in his earlier runs in Chicago that he "talked too white".

After experimenting, Obama and his early mentors found that blacks lapped up the friendly black preacher slop as eagerly as they did strident, angry militant black preacher stuff. But more importantly, they found white liberals were still alienated from angry black Revs like Sharpton denouncing whites and making demands, but took like kittens to catnip to a warm fuzzy black preaching style that did not threaten or lay white guilt trips on them ("you owe us blackfolk everything!") - but invited them to help in the wonderful renewal, the healing of the USA and whole planet - that Obama, as the next MLK, would lead.
Liberal whites after being raised on school fare that MLK was the greatest American and that each spoken word of MLK was only slightly below Jesus in purity of motive and "truthiness", found Obama irresistable in a way they never opened their hearts for Rev Jess or Rev Al or elected "black firebrands" like Maxine Waters, John Conyers

Team Axelrod is very, very good. They could probably take Mike Tyson, get rid of the lisp, and put him in elected office. But they know that

A Different Perspective

From Ireland:

We in Ireland, can't figure out why you people are even bothering to hold an election in the United States.

On one side, you had a bitch who is a lawyer, married to a lawyer, running against a lawyer who is married to a bitch who is a lawyer.

On the other side, you have a war hero married to a good looking woman who owns a beer distributorship.

What are you lads thinking over there?

Good question.

Beatings. Here is the wiki para:

In late August 1968, a program of vigorous torture methods began on McCain.[116] The North Vietnamese used rope bindings to put him into prolonged, painful positions and severely beat him every two hours, all at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery.[116] His right leg was reinjured, he was given cracked ribs, some teeth were broken at the gumline, and his left arm was re-fractured.[116][24] Lying in his own waste, his spirit was broken;[116] the beginnings of a suicide attempt was stopped by guards.[84] After four days of this, McCain signed and taped[117] an anti-American propaganda "confession" that said, in part, "I am a black criminal and I have performed the deeds of an air pirate. I almost died, and the Vietnamese people saved my life, thanks to the doctors."[116][84] He used stilted Communist jargon and ungrammatical language to signal that the statement was forced.[98] He was haunted then and since with the feeling that he had dishonored his country, his family, his comrades and himself by his statement,[118][119] but as he later wrote, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine."[88] His injuries left him incapable of raising his arms above his head to this day.[24] Two weeks later his captors tried to force him to sign a second statement; his will to resist restored, he refused.[116] He sometimes received two to three beatings per week because of his continued resistance;[120] the sustained mistreatment went on for over a year.[108] His refusals to cooperate, laced with loud obscenities towards his guards, were often heard by other POWs.[107] His boxing experience from his Naval Academy days helped him withstand the battering,[35] and the North Vietnamese were never able to break him again.[116]

Yeeesh. Her neckline should have been just below her necklace, which is God awful gaudy for daytime wear. (I would wear it for evening cocktail events) She has too many freckles to be wearing that color and if she IS going to wear a low cut outfit she needs to put foundation all the way down to her boobs.

The sweaters are on large gauge needles and would have had a much softer and possibly classier look in a finer gauge. Too chunky.

In addition her hair could use some tonal tune up. It's too much one really fake color. Some honey blond and darker blondish streaks or reverse highlighting would help soften her look.

McCain looks good in that color orange, but seriously.....dressing the same. Are we in high school?

For a classy look: Michelle Obama and her fabulous Donna Ricco dresses that flatter her striking and fit figure.

Drill SGT: Thanks for the posting.

The Obama trolls who have invaded Ms. Althouse's blog will interpret the posting as clear evidence of McCain's inhumanely causing harm to his captors' fists and feet (prohibited by the Geneva Accords, I'm certain) by unduly forcing them to beat him.

Heh! I can sympathize. That hair color is so unforgiving. The short haircut she used to sport went well with her sharpish features.

Those bloodshot eyes. Never leave the house without Murine!

Ann said, "He'd like to establish a rule not to talk about patriotism."

That's a complete and deliberate distortion. ("Lie" might be a better term, but it's also very impolite.) I'm not even a law professor and I can tell that saying "I will not stand idly by when I hear others question mine" is a promise to talk about patriotism.

This is hack work.

There was a surprisingly sympathetic profile of Cindy McCain in last week's Newsweek. She always seemed somewhat chilly and inacessible to me but according to the article she has done a fair amount of good work in her life. The sponsoring of cleft palate operations for kids in poor countries is an indisputable good thing. Whatever her fashion sense, her charity sense is pretty cool--way better than those opera and art museum benefits that society types usually prefer....I suppose the down side of being born rich and good-looking is that all types of phonies (who are good at it) suck up to you and all sorts of phonies (also good at it) splatter you with their envy and malice. It is hard to recognize yourself in all those distorted mirrors.
