"We see the people stacked like wood frequently."

"If they had had the right number of people in there and they all had their seat belts on, they would have lived." 10 passengers died in one SUV.

Sadly, this is just the latest, but by far not the worst of these accidents. They occurred with alarming frequency, with up to 20-25 deaths, in the past several years. The numbers have dropped off significantly in this last year or two, corresponding to the overall decline in numbers of illegal entrants. But we know down here that it was only a matter of a little time before it happened again.

Also, only three days ago and not too far south of here, 42 children burned or suffocated to death in a fire at a day care. Please pray for those families, and if you can, donate generously to their relief fund.

Any allusion to Icarus would be pretty much exactly wrong.

27 people in an Excursion - wow.

No sermons today about obeying the law. This is sad and gruesome.

Better yet, pray that their corrupt government actually give a damn about their population.

They travelled a long distance to come to such a terrible end, but hispanic governments are just that bad - people are willing to risk life and limb to escape them.

Now where is that wise latina to fix our judicial system?

27 poor desperate people in a system built for 8, but believing in a savior at the end of the trip. What a perfect analogy to the Government Run Health Care that the President and all his men have awaiting for Americans as soon as their middle class wealth has been fully Taxed out of circulation by the "Stop the Globe from Warming" hoax.

Traditionalguy - A "perfect analogy"? Nonsense. It's a lot of people dead and injured, from a foolish and criminal activity of course, but mainly from trying to escape an equally deadly fate. Ironic? Unfortunately so.

Want a healthcare system designed to only cover 8 out of 27 voters? Sounds pretty stupid if you wish to tell 19 voters they should die or suffer with lack of insurance, but please vote the way the 8 covered vote..

Nor is it a particularly apt analogy when US healthcare costs are 50% higher than our economic competitors in advanced European and Asian countries - even with a higher death rate, more hospital infections and medical "misadventures" ending in patient harm or death, and 1/6th of our population left to fend for themselves while illegals, prisoners, and welfare mammy families get care.

Cedarford-

Currently in the UK if you break a tooth in half, you must wait nine months to see a dentist. It is illegal for anyone to work outside the system. Their (all Europe) outcomes on screenable cancers, such as colon and breast are much, much worse, since you cannot get colonoscopies or mammograms at the appropriate time. They are healthier in general since they live healthier lifestyles, and are more genetically homogeneous, they require less care when taken as a whole, hence the reduced spending. Here, we have a polyglot of people with specific genetic deficits and poor health habits. Yet our care is better.

How many links in the chain leading to this tragedy? How many obstacles do you have to put in the way to prevent such an unnecessary loss of life?

It's my job to swoop in/sweep up the result of these accidents and race to try to save any spark of life left. Nevermind the seat belt law...
How about the law that says "Don't cross the border illegally"?

I'm no lawyer, but I've heard of "attractive nuisances". At what point do we realize we are one?
