Won't Scott Brown end up back in the Senate...

... if John Kerry is tapped for Secretary of State?

Althouse, you can only hope ...

but not likely as he badly damaged his brand in his campaign against Warren.

But speculating can be fun!

Scott Brown is a good man.
Anything that pisses off or worries Harry Reid is just Schadenfreude on the Kuchen.

Yes! Just ask your speculum-wielding guru, Andrew Sullivan!

Actually, Lizzie made a fool of herself at her first press conference, but the little weasel doesn't want to talk about that.

And, speaking of things the little weasel doesn't want to address, where were you hiding out 10/5 - 11/5 when the Romster was winning?

Paula Broadwell's stand-in in the blackmail tape?

C'mon, we won't tell.

Laugh, maybe.

Eh. What are you picturing? Who can run against him well on short notice?

One thing's for sure as he won't be the tea party's favorite like when he ran the first time. But $$$ from Wall St. should not be a problem, except w/MA heavily Dem voters ...

Special election low voter turnout should help a tad. But getting another non-campaigner, ie Martha Coakley, to run against is doubtful.

Isn't there a Kennedy around somewhere that they could activate?

Shiloh speculates: but not likely as he badly damaged his brand in his campaign against Warren.

I think even Nate Silver would reject the likelihood of Brown losing special election. And Kerry resigning his Senate seat could be good for bipartisanship.

I heard he was gearing up to run for Governor in 2014.

Who cares?

He's barely a Republican, never mind a conservative.

Yes, we need more "moderate" Republicans to go along with Zero.

Yay.

La la la.

There has been talk of Deval Patrick replacing Holder. He's already had a recent meeting w/Obama.

How can you listen to Warren for more than 30 seconds, and not conclude she is incredibly stupid?

Shorter question....How did Brown lose?

I hope so. Governor would be possible too.

He's a MA Conservative. In the People's Republic, you have to operate sub rosa.

The little weasel provided the lube.

No. The Massachusetts Democratic Machine will never allow it.

Also too many of us, are really Conservative Democrats. We really do not like 'liberal Republicans'. At least with Democrats we get half of want we want.

Would Obama want to take the chance? I'll take LIKELY for $200, Alex.

No.

John Kerry as SoS? Just fucking shoot me. I guess Obama does owe Kerry his first two terms from losing in 2004 though.

The next Kennedy just won a House seat in MA. He's too inexperienced for the Senate. He hasn't learned how to legislate while intoxicated yet.

"his first two terms"

garage, don't give Althouse cons the impression that Obama can run for another (2) terms :D as they already too depressed having a Muslim born in Kenya as their C-in-C.

Is there any reason to think Teddy couldn't win an election in Massachusetts?

Remember back in 2010, when other states were flipping to GOP representation, and MA reelected Barney "there is no mtg. crisis" Frank?

Zombie Teddy will be back in the Senate before Republican Scott Brown.

If Brown is elected in 2013, he'll have to run again in 2014.

That'll be two elections for two, two year terms, and a third election for a six year term.

Very expensive and grueling.

veni vidi vici said...

If so, he should show up on his first day back in full Indian feathered headdress.

Sort of a tribute to Warren's "heritage" and his beefcake Village People-esque past.

Wince said...

Woops... excuse me.

That'll be four elections: two elections for two, two year terms, and two elections for a single six year term (2012 being unsuccessful).

Wince said...

For that reason and others, I think Brown would rather run for Mass governor.

He'd run as the previous GOP governors had: as a moderate check on the excesses of the Mass Dem establishment.

Plus Brown is much better as a politician "in the district", so to speak. He lost part of that advantage going to Washington.

My guess is Deval Patrick won't go to DC, however, probably for that very reason.

heh.. John Kerry!? Another signature style of Obama's is to not give the sycophants what they sucked up to get. Kerry will never get SoS.

Peter V. Bella said...

John Kerry would be a disaster as Secretary of State. If you think we have enemies now Kerry will have the whole world hating us. Just look at the man. He is hate personified. Oh, and he was never prosecuted for lying to the Congress when he testified about Viet Nam War Crimes. He could be the Perjurer of State.

The only one who comes to mind is Deval Patrick. He's already announced that he won't be seeking reelection as governor in 2014. He's obviously got the statewide name recognition to match Scott Brown's, and he's a Democrat and still popular after six years as governor.

He'd win.

Barring that, yeah, Scott Brown would have an excellent chance to win. It was a close race against Warren, and her closing ads were all about the idea that he could be the decisive vote to hand the Senate to Republicans --- obviously not a concern this time.

John F. Kerry-Hunt, who served in Vietnam, needs an excuse to get his big sail boat back to a Rhode Island port.

I suspect that his argument will be that failed presidential candidates hold sway over ring-in-nose Senate Majority leaders. Dusty Harry had best not fool around with Winter Solders who drive Swift Boats (especially this time of year or we could see Christmas in Cambodia all over again).

Harry must know that Kerry talked about how American military (of which he was one) "had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside ..."

JAL said...

Ha ha. That would be cool.

But I am still trying to envision Kerry as Sec of State.

I mean ... is it that French thing again?

Nothing. Nothing will change or get done, because I really don't think anyone takes JFK seriosuly, including Teresa Heinz Kerry.

(Maybe it's all too nuanced for me.)
