"'White turkey chili': That's what President Obama served Mitt Romney for lunch."

"Was this really an intentional (ungracious, gloating, etc.) slap? I'm a paranoid — but it is the sort of thing the hard core politicos I've known would find funny...."

ADDED: Just before Thanksgiving, The Atlantic published this item: "Why Does the White House Always Pardon White Turkeys?"

It's pretty funny, so I assume it was intentional.

I don't think Obama is that smart.

Well, if Michelle served ladyfingers for dessert, I'd say "case closed".

Unlike Clinton, who after his reelection was gracious to Bob Dole... honoring him at the WH and even giving him a medal.

Romney should have politely declined. He is done with politics and there is no reason to allow Obama a ball spike.

Even if it was an intentional insult, don't expect Romney to get all that worked up about it. Just like the election itself. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. And then he goes back to his life, just like he went back to his life after lunch.

There was never any sense of real urgency from Romney in the election, no sense of comprehending the mountain of insult that Obama has heaped on the American people, no comprehension of the life-or-death nature of this election. Sure, he was a little "disappointed" when Obama attacked him personally, but not enough to "set his hair on fire."

I'm sure the white turkey chili was more palatable than Romney's weak, flavorless campaign.

Was it served with crackers?

I thought the menu for Romney was classic Obama smarmy symbolic: turkey chili and grilled chicken salad.

Obama is a classic American progressive who invests a lot in the symbols and images (the code that Chris Matthews would never seek to crack).

It was a major diss to Romney and the GOP but they are way used to this kind of thing.

It is very much in line with our magnificent gracious Lightworker POTUS giving Hillary the finger (before he made her SoS, of course).

What the Hell else do you expect?

A punk is a punk.

Oh, please...perhaps it is just something that is normally prepared and served in Obama's White House. I'd be happy to try it.

The speculation about this says more about those speculating than the actual choice of meal says about anything.

It's likely the only chance Romney will have to eat at the White House.

Was it the left over turkey? I think the meeting was after Thanksgiving.

Of course it was a slap. The thug Usurper rolls that way.

Leftovers I'm sure.

Perhaps not, but he is that small.

When you're invited perhaps they'll serve brains.

I agree but Althouse keeps posting these questions. I have to assume it is her belief that Obama and his admin are Machavellian sooooper geeenyuses!

Who said I wanted to dine with Obama? I just think the turkey chili sounds like it could be tasty.

No wonder you righties are always so hysterical...and wrong. You read into and imagine so much that isn't so from any bit of datum you encounter.

I agree that he's too humorless to come up with something like this on his own. I know a brilliant, humane, successful man, a true polymath, who has no sense of humor. It's not that he's dour, he simply has an absence of the recognition of humor. Sort of like Obama, only Obama's a dumbshit puppet.

Romney should have brought some humble pie dessert.

I guess "White Turkey Chili" means chile con carne made with white turkey meat. First time I hear of such a thing, and I would think it to be pretty dry stuff to eat.

Fritz said...

According to Slate, that's racist.

Hagar, Turkey or chicken chili can be creamy. I use food processer canellini beans. Actually, processed canellini beans topped on any tomato based soup[minnestrone, pasta fagioli, etc.] is a nice touch..you'll get raves. It's a taste and texture addition. Make the soup, top w/ blended beans and parmesan, serve w/ a crusty peasant bread.

The douchebags at Slate don't deep fry their turkeys, thus the blandness of the white meat.

White refers to the sauce/broth, not the meat itself. Most white chilis are not made with red kidney beans.

No. We've concluded you're not bright enough to know what you're doing.
So. You're forgiven.

This is consistent with the content of Obama's character. He is a vile and petty man.

Look at this way. It had to be a lot tastier than the shit sandwich he will be serving the rest of us for the next four years.

Why is it acceptable for the First Lady to show up to an official WH event wearing a leather jacket and skinny jeans? Yes, we know you shop at J Crew...and...perhaps you could reflect the dignity of the office? Or is she observing the silliness of a formal event to pardon a turkey? One can only wonder...
