I guess Mary Burke will enjoy her service on the school board now.

"It makes me want to fight ever more on a local level."

AND: Is "ever more" a typo for "even more"? I don't know...
And Scott Walker, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Walker, Governor — ever more!

Walker and his team have to be the experts on turnout now. Three elections in four years and bigger margins each time. The left spent millions.

The left never counted on the Althouse Blog effect. If she likes him, he must be sane. And dog lovers vote.

Mary Burke will not run for reelection to the Madison School Board.

Just to clarify, it wasn't Burke that made the statement ""It makes me want to fight ever more on a local level."

But you are right that Mary Burke will enjoy her service on the school board now - she seems to have a pretty low threshold for life engagement activities.

"The local level" as in cleaning her kitchen, mowing the lawn and living off of her Trek Bike money?

Well, I heard her position is being eliminated.

Mary Trek and Wendy Abortion? Seriously these lady parts are the best the Democrats can muster? School board and State Senator? Makes you wonder about affirmative action at Harvard too, huh?

Lady parts politics!

I forgot about Martha Massachusetts. Two-time loser!

Who are these people?

I was fairly impressed with her concession speech. She actually credited Vince Lombardi as a source.

It is easy to say that now but they all could have very easily have gotten elected. Look at Nancy, Maxine and others. The fact that they keep getting elected no matter what batsh*t crazy things they say does not instill confidence in the electorate at large. This at least is a step in the right direction. Hopefully the slide left has been slowed down a good bit.

She'll be running for the snow board.

Mary Burke is actually pleased that the Wisconsin electorate has "restructured" her potential role at the State executive level so that she will have more time to spend with her school board friends whom she considers "family".

I'm sure Trek is chomping at the bit to get her back. Just imagine the future market share growth they can achieve if she returns with her mad business skillz!

At $3,000. per year, the $128,631. she paid for that school board seat should pay off in less than 43 years (assuming that raises offset the time value of her $128,631.)

So, who would have been the strongest Democratic candidate for WI governor?

I'd guess Chris Abele would have been much tougher to beat than Mary Burke. But, he wasn't interested (and the unions probably weren't interested in supporting him).

I think if Democrats want to win statewide races in WI again, they'll need to cut their ties with AFSCME, WEAC, et al as most taxpayers realize these unions do not work for their interests (and especially not for those with school-age children).

Republicans wised-up this time with much better candidates. No more Witches of Delaware, "Something God Intended" in Indy and Whoopi Parrot (Rape Rape) in Missouri. Maybe I should say, 2014 Republican candidates were better disciplined and kept to the nondescript script.

You know, I support abortion rights, but I certainly don't "celebrate" them. Wendy crossed some boundaries and even lost Hispanics with that rhetoric of hers.

My case that government has the right to forbid abortion is that if it has the right to conscript young men to possibly die or be maimed for the good of the nation as a whole, it certainly has the right to conscript you women into motherhood, which also benefits the nation, as a whole.

I just don't want to live in a country where such rules about abortion could be effectively enforced. But hey, just because there were draft dodgers didn't make idea of the draft wrong, reasons for going to war might be right or wrong, but that is a different argument. Maybe the equivalent of draft dodgers, women and doctors lying about the need for a particular abortion, is the price to pay to limit it.

If you have been following the latest thinking from the Left on "rape," "rape rape" is a perfectly valid term for what used to be known as "rape" before academic lefties got ahold of the term.

I was unable to destroy enough Scott Walker signs for Mary to win. Major fail. But I see Edwin Edwards will be in a runoff so my confidence in Democrat voters is at an all time high.

If true than what you are saying is that suppressing free speech is fine with you as long as it helps you get your way? Good to know.

Dane County Board Supv. Carousel Bayrd said the results of the race confirm how divided Wisconsin is. "But we [in Dane County] have no idea what the rest of the state is thinking," she said. "And they have no idea what we are thinking."

Waukesha and the rest of Wisconsin know exactly what Dane County is thinking, and they believe it's total bullshit.

Dane County might start by actually showing interest in the rest of Wisconsin outside their insulated borders. Their Central City arrogance has blinded them to the culture of the outliers.

What I'm failing to understand is the excruciating drama that is happening in my more liberal friends' lives.

A large number of them are trying to get enough money together to move to a blue state. I suppose an increased minimum wage will help them achieve that goal faster.

One said she wouldn't be spending her money in the Fox Valley again. It doesn't occur to her that a business there might be owned by a democrat, or might employ people who voted the democratic ticket.

The more I read and heard, the more I felt like they thought they knew what I wanted in this election more than I did, and that I voted against my own better interests because I was ignorant or willfully stupid.

When I ask questions, it's like I just took a stick to a hornet's nest. I'm a business owner, I have employees that depend on me. I can't base my business decisions only on emotions or I wouldn't be in business and able to pay them for long. The passion is great to see, but to succeed it needs direction and focus.

It's an election, not an order to the eastern front. Progressive means change, so start changing, stop talking down to people who have different viewpoints, and come up with policies that are not vague and emotion-based, then show me the numbers, and I may very well see things your way.

Dirtier air and water. More disenfranchised voters. More money to the already ultra-rich. More governmental intrusion into our personal lives. Less government oversight of the safety of our food supply. More children living with food insecurity. A minimum wage that still won't keep a family out of poverty. Greater environmental harm. More hatred of minorities. More power to the Koch brothers. Father, forgive us.

I believed that kind of shyte was going to happen when Reagan was first elected. Guess what? Life got better and the existential threat to the US of the Soviet Union was defeated without a world war!

I am sure that liberals can come up with all kinds of motivated analyses that 'demonstrate' that life has gotten worse. Problem is, with my two eyes, I can see it got better!

The 70s that I remember looked like Adrian's apartment in the movie Rocky. The poor don't live like that anymore. I think I can honestly say that I was poorer growing up than most people who call themselves poor today. (No car, 11 people in a four bedroom home, 1 rotary phone with long distance (remember that?) that was too expensive to actually use, 1 black and white TV on top of the piano for the best reception, linoleum floors throughout, where they weren't painted pine...., no insulation so ice formed on the inside of the bedroom windows, etc, etc, etc.)

These are the kind of observations that makes one tune out the left over time.

This generation will be little different than the Carter/Reagan generation and will eventually draw the same conclusions.
