When I was a little boy, my grandfather told the farmer who farmed my grandparents' farm in Illinois, to plow up the pasture which had been pasture since my great grandfather homesteaded the land. It was primordial prairie. The corn the next year was 12 feet tall. It remind us what the first farmers must have seen.

Douthat was on fire with righteous fury today.

I didn't realize he could GET mad.

@Deirdre Mundy: But Douthat is man, so don't expect feminists to read even the first line let alone the last paragraph. They are passive-aggressively ignoring the whole story. Willful ignorance. Kirsten Powers might stand a better chance of being read, at least.

I am enjoying Michael K's most recent book.

Just like to take this time to congratulate the Wisconsin basketball team for beating my UK wildcats in the final four. Great game. Wish our guard had hit those little runners in the lane he missed at the end. He made a lot of those over the years. And I wish you hadn't blown your load defeating us. Hate Duke.

Michael K is an author?

Original Mike, here it is.

I think he also wrote a book about the history of medicine. Or I might have that wrong. Maybe he can tell us if he sees this.

Interesting. Thanks, Freeman.
