"Charlie Sheen Says He Has H.I.V. and Has Paid Millions to Keep Diagnosis Secret."

"Asked whether he faced lawsuits, Mr. Sheen said it was more 'shakedowns' from people demanding money."

Is he still paying people? “Not after today, I’m not.” And:  “I think that I release myself from this prison today.”

Sheen pictured himself as a hero of coming out: “Hopefully, with what we are doing today, others may come forward and say, ‘Thanks, Charlie, for kicking the door open.’”

Nice to see he's still being humble.

Imagine how those millions could have been spent.

He was a selfish ass before and still is a selfish ass.

It would take only one credible plaintiff/victim claiming she was infected by him to utterly destroy that defense.

Where Charlie Sheen is going with this

My partner died of complications relating to AIDS on May 19, 1994. Charlie Sheen should just give thanks for being alive.

Poor guy. Of course, medical science has come a long way since the 80's and people can live with the disease now for decades. Charlie is already 50 and, given his lifestyle, even without HIV, he was unlikely to make it to 70.

He should at least get credit for informing his partners that he's HIV positive. That's why they were able to blackmail him. Assuming his tale is true.

Really, a hero? He makes me gag. More like villain. One a jerk, always a jerk.

Ann, that's an assumption that he actually told the truth to someone. that's a stretch.

I've always enjoyed his on-screen persona, but could never reconcile the complete contempt he had for the blessings (wealth, family) laid upon his table.

rehajm said...

It was amusing a couple days ago when the headline was 'Major Hollywood Celebrity HIV Positive'. Was there ever a more prohibitive favorite than Sheen?

I can't reconcile why he felt the need to keep it a secret? Because it would harm the squeaky clean image he had crafted for himself?

This wasn't really a secret in Hollywood. There were even jokes about it in Sony email hack last year.

Millions seems more like the numbers I would associate with settling a claim by, say, a porn actress whose lost her livelihood than pure blackmail about exposing AIDs in a guy anyone would assume is a toxic mess of STDs anyway. (Blackmail is a crime, so if that's all there is to it, presumably he can report their names and they can be prosecuted.)

That Lothario rat, Charlie Sheen
With reluctance has finally come clean.
Though he claimed to be "winning"
He in fact was just sinning
And with nary a thought to hygiene.

Now his paramours live with the dread
That the wages of sharing his bed
Are a future of strife
And a foreshortened life.
Hey, good luck finding someone to wed.

Not necessarily--if he infected someone and they did the standard infectinos disease disease trace deal ("list all your sexual partners"), or if they compared notes with someone else he infected, or even if they suspected but couldn't prove conclusively that he was the source of their infection they could still credibly blackmail him by threatening to CLAIM he was the source, which on its own would be damaging enough.

Unless he asserts that he admitted it to them and they confirm he did I don't think I'd assume that, given the prior behavior under discussion.

I myself have never had sex wth multiple porn stars in luxury hotel suites. Unlike Charlie Sheen, I have self restraint and a temperate character. The fact that I don't have fame and a hundred million dollars may also have something to do with this. I never feel prey to Charlie Sheen's temptations mostly because I was never subjected to Charlie Sheen's temptations........In America, obesity kills more people than promiscuity. Let those who are not overweight and have never eaten a chocolate chip cookie cast the first scone........Charlie Sheen is a degenerate and a fool, but he's not unsympathetic or unlikable. Achilles said that if by living a chaste life, he could live forever, then he would live a chaste life. As it is, we are all doomed so we may as well pursue whatever glory or pleasure comes our way before the eternal grave. Charlie realized to the full one mode of being.

"Assuming his tale is true..." That stutter thing is his tell. I think the only honest thing he said was about having five kids and a grandchild.

"Mr. Sheen said that he did not think it was possible that he had transmitted the disease to others. He said that he had unprotected sex with two people, but that he was under the care of doctors at the time."

OK I will ignore the image of Charlie Sheen having sex while two doctors observe.

Is this not still risky behavior?

"Kicked the door open?"

Magic Johnson.

Your argument is invalid, Charlie.

If he was paying "hush money" then he was a fool to do so. It's not like his reputation was all that sparkling to begin with.

Bill Peschel said...

Sheen pictured himself as a hero of coming out: “Hopefully, with what we are doing today, others may come forward and say, ‘Thanks, Charlie, for kicking the door open.’”

And no thanks for The Sun, because without their story, he would have kept his mouth shut and kept on paying.

Yeah..funny how he decides to champion them now..in context of the millions in hush money being taken from them.

but doesn't his diagnosis correlate with his more sever departure from the rails?..and tiger blood references?

Has he disclosed whether he believes he contracted it via sex with women, men or drugs? Or is it an all of the above thing?

But Sheen's ex-wife and his "goddess" girlfriends all claim to be HIV Negative.

“He never said anything to me,” [goddess Bree] Olson said on the Howard Stern show Tuesday. “I was his girlfriend. I lived with him. We were together. We had sex almost every day for a year—with lambskin condoms.”

I know how to do a lobotomy, and my service fee is less than $50.

I believe the man should be in prison. A mental prison, but a prison. He should only be able to have sex with other mental patients.

Mental diseased humans should not be allowed to free roam. Supervised day out, fine, but back to prison before dark.

I too volunteer to comfort Bree Olson.

Oh, bullshit. He didn't tell any of them. I doubt he even remembers any of them.

Sounds like a case for a Mississip class action tort lawyer. Betcha those Mesothelioma doctors could find a lot of AIDS that mere testing can't find. How deep are Charlie's pockets?

My God! If even Charlie Sheen can get HIV, then who is safe?
Must've been a blood transplant.

When you're not buying porn star sex hookers are comparatively cheap.
Then there are the groupies that just want the street cred.
And then there is Charlie Sheen who will put his dick in any female.

HeY. Charlie. Why not dial it down a notch and maybe live to see 60.

How brave of him to reveal publicly his diseased state, after (apparently) hiding it from his sex partners for so very many years. His bravery is an example to all carriers of sexually transmitted diseases, but the lawsuits he will face, and settle with little publicity, are the real lesson here for the STD-brave community.

I heard a clip from the today show. He still speaks like some pretentious teenager who took a creative writing class. "They took my truth and turned it into treason." He acts like such a victim. Shut up.
