What I found when I tried Googling to find out if anybody else was as bothered as I was by how rude Bernie Sanders was to Hillary Clinton.

"Bernie Sanders gives Hillary Clinton the side-eye treatment...."

Maybe Sanders' rudeness to Hilary was warranted. Apparently she is quite the pill off-camera. (There are reports of Hilary having temper tantrums marked by profanity-laced screaming and belittling of subordinates, etc.)

Bernie's eyes flash at the sound of lies.

Bernie is an asshole. So is Hillary but she has a lot more skill covering it up. Being an asshole is not disqualifying for a president, but acting like one on national TV is a bad idea.

Bernie may also be a male chauvinist. But he has had more practice hiding that.

I have to give Sanders some love, knowing that when he is POTUS he will immediately have the Department of Agriculture plant 100,000 trees that the free stuff will grow on.

If only he would turn those eyes onto himself at some of the things he says.

I don't know if it was his makeup, but damn, he looked old.

Apparently he has a temper and pretty nasty to his campaign staff and sexist, racist, and so on. I can't believe he has had this much traction. He is borrowing so much of Trump language these days that no wonder people are flocking to him as a standby.

Things will be much clearer after South Carolina and Nevada. 4.5 weeks.

(cont.) I noticed it but I also have heard that Bernie is a nasty old man.

I appreciate those who look at this geriatric clown show so I don't have to. What is sobering is that so many people are enthusiastic about voting for one of them.

"I have been over to the future and" we are fucked.

I recognize that cringe: it's me listening to almost all politicians. That's one reason I can't watch their debates or speeches. Too painful to listen to the lies, BS, manipulation and stupidity.

Sanders, unlike Clinton, has received almost no real scrutiny. He is a liar and a demagogue and delusional about what the gov't can actually do. He would be a real dangerous person to have in the White House. In every way. The fact that I see so much support for him makes me sad for my country.

Unlike Trump or Cruz, Sanders and Clinton actually are nasty pieces of work.

NASTY ... that's a good word isn't it?

Yeah, Bernie being rude to Hillary! is a serious problem, particularly in view of Hillary!'s own civility toward women, starting with Juanita Broaddrick, whom she apparently thanked very politely for everything she had done for the Clintons.

I felt bad for O'Malley. He's probably the best candidate up there, but nobody cares. Everyone ignored him.

Gusty Winds said...

I can even stand the sound of Hillary's voice. Nothing genuine comes out of her mouth. Bernie's reaction represents the disgust felt by millions of Americans when Hillary speaks.

She won't be President.

Is Bernie's "side-eye treatment" of Hillary as bad as Barack Obama rubbing the side of his nose with his middle finger? Just askin'

Ron Snyder said...

Clinton doesn't deserve to be treated civilly. She is a lying, crooked, treasonous b#tch.

Huckster, Shyster, and Finagle. Not sure which one's which.

The Democrat Party is the party geriatric white candidates, maybe the Grifter sharted or Bernie was holding one back. More likely Bernie doesn't respect criminals.

"Bernie Sanders gives Hillary Clinton the side-eye treatment"

That was nothing compared to what we were doing at home.

The majority of Americans are giving Hillary the "side-eye Treatment" right now.

That was laughable last night. If anybody can salvage anything useful from that Cluster F***, good luck to you.

I hardly think that qualifies as rude. She's not the bleeping Queen. You can't argue both that 1) the woman is as big and strong as anybody, and 2) she can't be subject to a single disparaging glance. Which is it?

MathMom said...

It's about time someone was rude to Hillary.

A line from some movie: "I am not accustomed to being spoken to in this manner." Reply: "Get used to it."

Original Mike said...

I didn't find Sanders to be particularly rude, though I only saw bits and pieces of the debate.

amielalune said...

Seriously? Seriously? Bernie being "rude" to Hillary is an issue? What the H8ll is wrong with people? Politics is rude. Presidential campaigns are rude.

Is that the plan, that Cruz or Trump or whomever won't be able to confront her or call her out because that would be "rude"? It may work with Althouse (and I suppose the enemedia will throw hissy fits) but good luck with the rest of us falling for that.

Hillary trying to get that old female card rev'd back up after trump eviscerated it.

AllenS said...

Being rude to Hillary would be to say something like: "I can see now why Bill was always screwing other women." Even if the statement was true.

Oso Negro said...

I didn't see the debate - did he throw his glass of water on her to see if she would melt?

David said...

According to the headline at Drudge this morning, Bill is in Wilt Chamberlain territory in the sex with women race. Another record nobody thought would be broken.

Michael K said...

I think the proper term for what Bernie was doing is "Stink-eye."

cubanbob said...

Did Sanders have a Trump moment and realize he really does have a chance to win the nomination so he no longer has to kiss Hillary's ass?

Barry Dauphin said...

He seemed to give the look in response to her saying "weak", "disappointing". Maybe he didn't like being called that.

Gusty Winds said...

In typical fashion it supposed to be both, depending on the perceived advantages of the situation for Hillary! Trump during debates has basically bullied Jeb! like a school boy. The eye-roll with "Oh yeah...you're a tough guy" routine? So what?

What Bernie did here was nothing, because I'm sure what was coming out of her mouth was so dishonest it made him cringe. I can't wait till Trump sticks a ball gag in her mouth.

Ok I confess, I can't watch these things, or any other kind of speechifying. I just can't. The only way I "watch" is n Twitter. It's definitely the Cringe thing. I am embarrassed..for everyone concerned.

To me Bernie's voice is like nails on a chalkboard - it's that Brooklyn-Jewish-Raspy-Hoarse thing that Larry David has, and it's just anathema to me. Being Jewish and living in the NY area, I hear it a lot, including from non-Jews who just grew up in the area.

Alan Arkin has it too, but in a much milder form.

I used to think that Hilary would always have the most grating voice in any electoral contest, but I guess I was wrong.

He wasn't rude to her. I didn't see that at all.

Big Mike said...

There was a longer clip played tonight on the evening news. At the time Hillary was saying that Sanders would tear up Obamacare and destroy Obama's great achievement. This comes under the heading of a "made up fact" so no wonder Ol' Bernie was giving her the stink eye.

As creative as you and other artistic types might be about evaluating reality, there's nothing rude about responding to someone else's lies with the same reaction you'd have to a bad fart.

This is an election when everyone's pretense for offense is being called out. For years we've had to hear about who's offended about what. Offended offended offended everything's offensive. Be considerate to everyone and everything that could offend them!

What was forgotten were the great many of us who are simply offended by people who habitually and reflexively lie about really important things.

They call it "bullshit" for a reason. It stinks.
