“It’ll apply next week, whether it’s one or the other. And it’s nice to take a break and not have to draw Trump—or Hillary, for that matter.”

Barry Blitt's New Yorker cover for the issue dated November 14th:

At the link, there are more of Blitt's covers from the mind-bending 2016 election season. Not all of them, though. Not this one of Hillary Clinton, the fighter.

If America was one unified gestalt consciousness I imagine it would be saying:

"I mean, yeah like...what did we do to deserve these two idiots? Wait...don't answer that."

Imagine a magazine for people who never leave a 10 block area except on a plane or a cruise ship. People who think food grows at Safeway and the economy is powered by unicorn farts. You have the NYTs, err I mean the New Yorker.

Mr. Blitt is pretty damn good at what he does.

Not going to look at his prior work, but this is pretty good.

The Hillary as a fighter looks more like Althouse as a fighter, frankly.

The cartoon of Hillary takes a lot of artistic licence; her eyes are both aligned .

Just remember anyone that wants the job is someone you really don't want for the job. You can only pick from the pool of applicants.

My publisher hired Blitt to draw some famous writers for my book. I thought he did a pretty good job of it (link to my book cover).

Which one is "Turd Sandwich" and which is "Giant Douche"?

Hillary is manspreading but the man on the subway isn't

That's a Trump wins cover. There's no NYC horror over Hillary.

Not this one of Hillary Clinton, the fighter.

Looks nothing like her - this one has ankles, etc. As EMD said, it looks more like Althouse.

"You’ve got to respect or at least be impressed by someone who has been counted out many times but repeatedly gets up from the mat, ready for the next round.”

Nope. And nope.

When has HRC ever gotten up from the mat and/or been counted out? She has been awaiting/expecting her anointed turn for 8 years now and STILL had to cheat to get through the primary season......

That's hilarious. I love it!

I think it's very sad that the artist (and our culture in general) have no compunction about using God's and Jesus' names so cheaply.

When do we get to talk about that weird-ass spirit cooking business?

And, relatedly, what the actual fuck is this on the wall of Podesta's office?

What are progressive wars, immigration reform, and watching videos at 3 a.m.

He missed a few headlines.

-- Honestly, when I heard about that, I decided: "This is when we learn WikiLeaks has been trolled, isn't it?"

His prior covers demonstrate he's all-in on Hillary.

The cover that's the subject of this thread demonstrates that he literally cannot picture a Trump win.

There's something vaguely pathetic about that.

New Hampshire, in the RCP average, was Hillary +8 last Monday. This past Monday it was Hillary +5.2.

Today it's Trump 1.6.

Nice!

@Bill Peschel, if I were to order one of your books through the Althouse portal, which one would you recommend?

Hillary should be drawn in a Faustian context. Why has this not been the case?

Persistent, decades long evil intent and corrupt action is not admirable, no matter what the New Yorker cover artist thinks.
