"Writing palindromes ... It's like the opposite of a guitar."

Says comedian and former NYU law student Demetri Martin. About quitting law school, he says:
The first week, I remember thinking: "OK, this cool. I get it: You analyze the case, find the issues, apply the rule, draw a conclusion. Cool, I get this." But that was week one. Then, at week two, I was like, "That's it?" And by week three I was like: "This sucks. I'm bored. This is so detail-oriented. I'm not a detail person."

Yikes. Me, I'm in decade three.

Who comes up with these?

Debate with girl last; if it's all right, I wet a bed.

Are you people looking for an antidote to the guitar? I don't get it!

Probably waxing cancrine is groupie saltpetre, but I did once attract a female by using the word "boustrophedonic." She was more your polyhistor climber type than your stage-set ululator, though.

Incidentally, I loved the idea that a writer of palindromes disclaims being a detail person.

xwfifw - a former wife who abandoned her family to write palidromes.

Demetri is right about the repetitive nature of law education. There is no reasonable explanation why law school is three years long. The skills are all taught in the first semester.

So, the comic figured this out in three weeks. And you are still doing it after three decades. Then again, you blog so much that you can't be reading and anayzing all that many cases!

Am I hearing decade three buyer's remorse?

It could be your law-prof scam working on your conscience.

Back to my former question: Would anybody choose to study this stuff if career/job/income weren't a factor?

I think not!

Peace, Maxine

Study this stuff? Absolutely.

Practice it? That's a different question.

Wow! I responded a couple of hours ago to the comment you made about guitars and antidotese.

My browser?

A broader issue?

Or was the comment the problem (can't imagine why ... of all of them; this of all others would be the problem?) and it was deleted?
