"A demented jag of blasphemy, multicultural weirdness, splatter-movie tropes and inchoate meat metaphors."

Hey, kids, let's go to the movies. It's "Mad Cowgirl."

Oh, you know, the first movie I ever saw (in the theater) was about cowgirls.

You had me at the blasphemy.

"...Therese appears to be fluent, versed as she is in the lingua franca of the movie, a primitive dialect of crazy."

what a great line!

I gotta see this. Given that "the point is an aggressive pointlessness", it's totally gotta fit in perfectly with my ADD addled mind.

Not to self promote, but you can find more information (and links to the official website, reviews in the San Francisco Examiner and Bay Guardian) at this link.

An acquaintance of mine worked on the film and recommended to me. Sadly, I have yet to see it.

My husband and I went to the L.A. showing (to support our friend, and Mr. Johnson's, Luke Y. Thompson), and I must say there are some scenes in that movie that will never leave my brain. Ever.

Hey, it's got Walter Koenig, Chekov from Star Trek fame, so I'm sure geeks of all levels will want to see this film. Notwithstanding some lady covered in blood wielding large knives...

Christian: I hope your friend is a nice person and not some psycho.

And I'd just like to say that I love this film for the title alone (a play on mad cow, the disease).

"Inchoate meat metaphors"? Those don't sound like the kind of things I want to "never leave my brain", Walter Koenig's presence and the movie's status as a demented jag notwithstanding.

Pass.

I'd just like to say it's nice to see a title that acknowledges that cows are, in fact, female as opposed to Barnyard which sports multiple male characters with big flapping udders -- yeah, I know -- left field.
