Pictures from the pre-debate "visibility rally."

Here's a nice set of pictures taken by my son Christopher Althouse Cohen in Austin, Texas last night. (He's a longtime Hillary supporter.) I love this one:

DSCN2006

And for you dog lovers... the Obama dog:

Obama dog

... and the Hillary dog:

Hillary dog II

I don't know. I'd say the Hillary dog looks more ready to lead on Day 1.

ADDED: My other son says that first dog should be called "Bark Obama."

Sure, those signs look nice, but if you look closely you'll see they are actually pointy sticks. (Much more difficult to defend against than a banana.)

+1 for "___RY".

But then I've always been a sucker for that 60's B&W sculptural stuff!

That Hillary drawing is pretty cool but I kind of wish they'd gone for the full monty.

(Yes, Theo, we watched that on your good advices.)

original mike,
Those are stakes. Hillary had them specially made. They were to be used to put through the hearts of Obama supporters.

Obama's dog is a pit bull, while Hillary's looks like a mutt. Symbolism, any one?

Ann Althouse said...

That's a pit bull? It seems to be cowering in fear.

...that first dog should be called "Bark Obama."

The Hillary dog should be called a bitch.

"It seems to be cowering in fear."

They all do that...

just before they rip your guts out.

The "bark obama" comment reminds me that a local radio station recited a bunch of Obama neologisms yesterday. Words like "barackstar" and "obamania." My favorite was the word for a person who is overly familiar with Mr. Obama - "baracktologist."

Why aren't those people wearing shorts?

Why aren't those people wearing shorts?

Selection bias. There were people in shorts there, they just didn't make it into Ann's pictures.

Revenant said...

If Ann photographed Democratic voters in shorts it would be taken as proof of her hidden conservative agenda.

Bill would be a hound dog. Or a good ol' Arkansas coon dog. -cp

Standing around with a damn sign is one way to hook up, I guess.

Those dogs, while cute, look like mutts to me.

obviously, they both come from poor pedigree, were probably, gulp, free, and their poop doesn't smell like perfume-like my rare clumbers.

nontheless, they are adorable. i love all dogs. i would love to breed dogs and live on a farm if i could make a living from it.

also, if i did live on a farm i would need to live within 30 minutes of a world class fabulous city so i could continue to get quality grade a hog.

right now i am going to spoon with my rare clumbers. they generally don't like it when i want to spoon but they are just so spoonable.

The pit, which seems to be a girl, is just standing and watching alertly.

Hillary Clinton seeks to destroy the Democratic Party.

"Hillary Clinton seeks to destroy the Democratic Party."

It's her party; she'll try if she wants to.

Btw., Why is that combat between airplanes is called a dogfight?

More proof that TitusXXX is really Maxine: (1) substandard Boolean algebra skills; (2) affected petty snobbishness; (3) painfully obvious attempt at shift-key camouflage; and (4) cleverly humorous dog/farm boy/hog/dog-f*cking progression.

After all, the man’s not without some talent!

P.S. Cockroaches cannot be reasonably expected to work the shift-key, so they get an exemption.

The Hillary dog looks more like my dog.

It's the same color!

I vote for the Hillary dog.

True story from law school - a fellow student had his dog, a boxer, at one of our Thursday afternoon beer blasts. I asked him the dog's name. He told me it was Barbara.

That beats Bark Obama hands down.

My next dog will be a big, gray bouvier. I'm naming it Jackie.

But, strangely, the Obama dog is white, and the Hillary dog is brown.

God, life is so ironic sometimes.

kirby olson,

Planes in WWI, making top speeds of only about 100 MPH, could twist and turn quickly and tail each other at relatively close range. From the ground the resemblance to dog fights....compris?

Anyone hear the term "Obamanation" to describe any miscues if he gets the victory?

Kirby Olson said...

Comprends.

The Obama dog is white! This will not make Michelle proud.

Pit Bulls got the media treatment in the 80s. They're actually very nice, stable dogs with good temperaments.

They're used as therapy dogs because they're also pretty solid.

Complete history of America's betrayal of the Pit Bull by Vicki Hearne. Lots of legal adventure with the Connecticut Attorney General.

Yachira, my condolences are extended to your children, if you have any. To think that political leanings are something that's important in a parent-child relationship!

My cat is an unreconstructed lefty. When he wants my attention he makes a growl sound like "barak" until I get him whatever he wants.

Peter V. Bella said...

Trooper,
You really like to live on the edge. You are walking a tightrope without a net and the rope is frayed.

I don't know about you anymore. I am having second thoughts. I wm thinking you are a closter French lover. I bet you even put mayo on pickled pigs feet!

J. Cricket said...

Pimping your sons again, eh?

Meade said...

PatCA's cat: "Something that we can do immediately that I think is very important is to pass the CREAM Act (Canine Relief and Education for Alien Mongrels Act), which allows dogs who through no fault of their own are strays, wandering the streets, menacing law-abiding cats, eating out of garbage cans -- allow them the opportunity to go to obedience school where they will learn to respect cats as their rightful overlords." (polite padded applause, loud meows of approval)
