"O God, humiliate Bush and his party, O Lord of the Worlds, degrade and defy him."

Al Qaeda's election prayer.

W. was a bad POTUS in almost every way except his treatment of al-Qaeda.

Obama's standing in the polls is a result of W.'s success in killing and neutralizing al-Qaeda.

If Americans were still worried about al-Qaeda, Obama would be down 10 points.

In an immediate response, the Obama campaign issued the following press release:

"This is from a guy who no longer lives in my neighborhood, and who is not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis, and besides, he engaged in detestable acts long ago, when I was only about ... ah ... well, a long time ago."

Two posts in a row where I can see that I am significantly underestimating George Bush.

I thought monsters were supposed to be scary and I didn't know he had a party.

Haven't you ever heard of the Monster Mash?

Wasn't there an attempt last week to claim that Al Queda really preferred McCain to win and was more afraid of Obama?

This prayer disrupts that narrative.

I really don't think that Obama would neccessarly left AL-Qaeda off the hook. His middle name might be Hussien and Obama kind of sounds like Ossma but I only hope that, that is as far as the similarities go.

mccullough said...

Obama doesn't have the stomach to deal with al-Qaeda like Hillary or McCain.

blake said...

Well, see? We have to elect Obama or we'll make these guys angry.

We wouldn't like them when they're angry!

(Wait, wrong thread.)

It's really an interesting thing, this piece of news, because it shows how predominant the concepts of shame and humiliation are in the world view of Al Qaeda and, for that matter, a great deal of the Arab Muslim world.

The difference in contrast to the West is profound. Democrats and Republicans don't care about humiliating anyone, so much so that there is no one actually up for humiliation. It's not even a consideration, even in the darkest of hearts. We just want our side win a fair fight, so that we can put our policies in place, because we think they are best.

We should all be proud to be, quite frankly, superior and more advanced in this way, no matter who wins and who loses.

Oh I get it. 1st world economies (france/germany) and their free citizens want the Messiah and all red-blooded Amerricuns should foam at the mouth in xenophobic rage at forreners trying to influence our election.

But manical murders in Al'Quesadilla and the (via Hot Air) poor shell-shocked 3rd world middle eastern protectorate of Iraq endorsing McCain?

Why it's proof that the republicans have their finger on the pulse of the world.

UWS -- That's a very silly thing to say. France, Germany, and Al Qaeda are all in agreement. You should start from scratch with your logic, find your error (not that hard), and get back to us.

Thanks for playing and trying to score cheap points, though. Sorry you didn't get any, and humiliated yourself.

Tell the Harvesters

"The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

"As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

The Parable of the Weeds
Matthew 13:36-43

no macho you don't give AQ enough credit. They're trying to get McCain elected, just as anyone with a brain in 2004 knew that OBL's message against bush would help his re-election.

Why would you take them at their word when they say what they say?

They're not stupid, if they know enough to pay attention to the date of the election, they would know that any statement they made would help the republicans.

High Hopes, by Byron York

From a post entitled "Crush Their Spirits," by Markos Moulitsas:

I've been making the case the last couple of weeks that we can't just focus on winning in November, but that we have an imperative to take advantage of a historic opportunity to break the conservative movement's backs and crush their spirits. In the White House, that means getting Obama a broad popular and geographic mandate for change. In the House, that means annihilating the Republican caucus and working toward a 100-seat Democratic majority. In the Senate it means getting to a 60-seat filibuster proof majority.

Why would you take France at face value for what it says? France wants what will help France. Al Qeada wants what will help it. Why would either side lie?

Note that both think Obama will help them? Why do you suppose that is?

blake said...

Seven,

I'd like to see the press humiliated. They can't be shamed, obviously.

After breaking conservatives' backs and crushing their spirits will Bambi have his way with their women?

Somehow I don't see that being a high priority for him.

I give Kos credit. He is as responsible for Obama as anyone besides Obama. He just wants to win handily for the sake of policy, not humiliation. The bigger the win, the more easily obtained the policy becomes.

Wanting to kick the other side's ass up and down the field isn't the same as calling upon a supernatural force to humiliate someone who isn't even playing in the game.

mccullough said...

UWS,

Maybe its double-reverse psychology. They know that we think that their ploy is meant to push support for McCain so they are now relying on US to do the opposite, unbeknownst to US.

So we should fool them and put McCain in.

Anonymous said...

It's so simple. All al-Qaeda has to do is divine from what they know of us: Are we the sort of people who would vote based on what al-Qaeda says? Now, a clever people would base their votes on what al-Qaeda says because they would know that al-Qaeda would be full of great fool to risk arguing for a vote against its interests. Al-Qaeda is not full great fools so it can clearly not choose to say something it doesn't really want. But American voters must know that Al-Qaeda is not full great fools, so its leaders clearly cannot say what they really think.

Obama comes from Harvard and, as
everyone knows, Harvard is entirely peopled with criminals. And
criminals are used to having people not trust them as Obama is not
trusted by al-Qaeda, so they can clearly not choose to state their actual position.

And al-Qaeda must suspect that we would suspect them of duplicity, so they can clearly not choose to state something against their own interests.

Obama has beaten Hillary Clinton, which means that he is exceptionally strong, so he could expect al-Qaeda to fear him, so they can clearly not choose to endorse the weak horse, McCain. But, he is also leading in the polls, which means he must be popular -- and in his popularity he must be the favorite of the American people, so al-Qaeda clearly cannot choose to endorse him.

"Why would you take France at face value for what it says? France wants what will help France. Al Qeada wants what will help it. Why would either side lie?"

Because France is a democracy and has to answer for the success or failures of its policies (and, especially, whether it lied to achieve them) to people who will hold it accountable.

But Machos sounds like a blind nationalist who can't factor democracy into his mental calculus.

AQ is playing the "My enemy's enemy is my friend" game, and Machos swallows it hook, line and sinker. You've got to credit him for catching on to the shame and humiliation issue. But AQ's appeal to Macho's sense of tribalism has got the better of him. So not everything that AQ holds in high regard is something that Machos is immune to.

Machos knows how he is different from AQ. He doesn't know how he is similar to them.

mccullough said...

I'm starting to get the feeling that well after W. is no longer POTUS both the Dems and AQ will still blame him for everything.

I am not voting because of any endorsement by any foreign country, nor would I, ever. Countries look out for themselves. As I have substantial work experience in international relations, I know this to be a fact on the ground.

I am voting for McCain because he sucks a lot less than Obama on big government and foreign policy.

I do appreciate your psychoanalysis, though, Montana. That's some hilarious shit. It's like I was right there on the chaise longue in your office, and you had a spectacle in your eye, and you listened to me for hours. Except that you got everything totally wrong. Don't quit your job at the cafeteria yet, dude.

"Don't quit your job at the cafeteria yet, dude."

And don't quit yours at the Psychic Hotline, little guy.

In any event, your impressive soundbite on "suck(ing) a lot less than Obama on big government and foreign policy" is a big giveaway when it comes to understanding your inability to account for the fact that France is a democracy, while al Qa'eda is not.

I'm still not certain that you think that AQ's statement would make an impact, regardless of what you profess to believe. And if you think that it shouldn't, then you might want to do even more backtracking in your oh-so-undiscriminating, slipshod analyses.

Montana -- You've got it in the jelly inside your head that I somehow care what other countries or political entities want. I don't. Nothing I have said implies that I do.

I will spell it out for once more though, using small words. I don't care what democracies or dictatorships endorse which candidates. My vote for McCain is independent of that. Cuba, North Korea, and Obama bin Laden his bad self could endorse McCain tomorrow, and it would not change my vote.

Also, I did not bring up other countries.

Good luck with everything, including but certainly not limited to the ability to follow primitively simple chains of thought.

Thanks. Good night.

Yah, sure they are. All against America and our one Special Friend, our only real ally...

****************
Somehow, we are supposed to credit the American Churchill, Dubya, somehow from keeping us all safe against the dread threat of 30,000 Islamoid primitives that once sucker-punched us and who inflicted less than 7000 dead so far. Despite the idiot's other massive faults, and 2 badly conducted wars..
On the other hand, from FDR onwards to Bush I, we had faced down enemies that killed 65 times as many Americans in 3 1/2 years when we had less than 40% our present population - followed by a new threat that had 2 billion people arrayed against us. plus a superior conventional military, and 17,000 nuke warheads aimed at us.
We handled that without doubling the national deficit. Or those guys neglecting other critical Presidential duties.

Everyone knows it's the Socialists who were integral to the founding of al Qa'eda. Why, with that Big Fat Teamster Socialist Ronald Reagan, who gave succor to the Taliban as they fought the Soviets,... and yeah!

I see that Little Machos has got his nanny to tuck him in before he confuses his inability to account for how different organizations and countries make decisions with anything to do with how he will vote! Maybe he will stomp his feet and use more angry words before he gets to eat his graham crackers and milk!

Oh, but he didn't mean any of it, rascible little prankster that he is! Good night, Machos. Good night, Moon. More pranks tomorrow!

I think it's reverse psychology. Al Qaeda fears Obama and the kneecapping of their propaganda narrative a president with the name Hussein would represent.

Either that, or they saw what happened to Joe the Plumber and decided they don't want to deal with that in the White House. You notice the Hamas endorsement of Biden - clearly meant to hurt Obama, IMAO - came shortly after the Plumber debacle. The terrorists have realized that the New York Times will be on America's side when it's them against Obama and what does that leave them?
