"This IS Democracy."

I'm tired of having the phrase "This is what democracy looks like" yelled in my ears, but I thought this guy's "This IS Democracy" get-up had some comic elan.

That is what anarchy looks like - don't like the democratic (republic) outcome? Decamp for the Tilted Kilt and call in your union minions to protest.

That is what Ritalin dependence looks like.

Keep in mind, pure democracy is nothing but mob rule - which is what the unionistas are trying to impose.

No, it's not.

Isn't everything elan in essence, not comic?

The bullhorn guy made me remember the "Kommunists for Kerry" around the time of the 2004 elections. They were so funny. They joined major leftoid rallies and nobody picked up the irony or much less the downright slapstick of the bunch. They were all, with their post 1917 Russian revolutionary get ups, taken quite reverently by the real protestors. Regarded, perhaps, as a serious advance -- tip-of-the-arrow -- team. A hoot. They would stage those space-clearing moments in a march and perform the back and forth sweeping flag (communist flag) demonstration. Completely absurd, great fun, miss them.

You should have warned this pretty lad that the adhesive from those stickers on his face will clog his pores and cause acne.

I recall the whole "this is what democracy looks like" chant from when the G20 was in Pittsburgh. I had to leave though as I was about to burst into laughter.

Nobody took them seriously then and nobody takes them seriously now.

I just saw This is Spinal Tap so I may have a different interpretation.

Look, at risk of Godwinning the thread: If a bunch of people yelling in anger in favor of a single agenda while demonizing others "IS Democracy", then so were the Nuremberg Rallies.

Yeah. I went there. But for good reason. My point is that it takes more than just mob rule. It takes informed popular participation. Not just standing around comparing pols to Hitler while repeating party lines.

Elan? That's your inner hippie talking.

If that's democracy, I have a sudden urge to read lots of Mencken.

He should light himself on fire and then he'd be some comic flan.

wv: "bilivill" - a gathering of angry, spleen-venting protesters.
