"Have fun with all your circles using your live webcam."

Google+ says. "Fun with circles" sounds like a kindergarten project. "Live webcam" has a diy porn vibe. Together? Creepy! I'm not ready for these live-webcam "circles."

The first question from one of my friends was "What's the Google+ policy on nudity on the web cam chats?"

I *heart* my friends...

Imagine Anthony Weiner with this capability. It's like "lean process" for the cyber creep.

Aww, come on, Ann - they're just "encouraging" the "good people." You know, like the environmentalists, with the whole green meme?

Don't you want to be that definition of good? Isn't that the hippie dream? To be accepted? In the cult?

Go on. Get out your camera.

And get into the god damned circle.

They won't let people who are under 18 join Google+. (Or ones who admit to being under 18.) I don't know if that has anything to do with the video chat or not.

The Google+ phone app has something called Huddle that lets you have a group text chat. I would find this useful to use with my kids but since one of them is under 18....

I was going to buy a new laptop last year but can't find anything without a webcam. I do not want a webcam. Some of my clients will not let me bring a laptop with a webcam onto their site.

I don't understand the obsession with webcams.

If you have a webcam, don't just turn it off. Physically disconnect it or put a piece of duct tape over it. Remember that school district that was watching kids on their laptops? (Is anyone in jail for that, I wonder? Haven't heard)

Ditto a mike. It is not enough to turn it off. Physically disconnect it when you are no using it. If built in, stick some playdough or physically disable it otherwise.

Unless you want random self appointed "good guys" like Google listening in.

BTW: I have gotten completely fed up with Google of late. They just get creepier and creepier. I finally wound up removing them from my laptop and PC search bars. Am using Dogpile instead. Seems to work pretty well but am open to other non-Google suggestions.

Circle management seems to be more fundamental to Google+ than lists are to Facebook. At least, it seems to be Google's expectation that you will want to carefully manage your circles.

I don't want to manage circles. I don't want social media to be more labor intensive than it already is. I don't want to have to find everyone individually again. I don't want to spend more time on my computer.
