Bloggingheads is hiring.

"Bloggingheads.tv is looking for a promotional and programming director to (1) launch an aggressive campaign to expand the site’s audience and influence, and (2) help shape programming with that goal in mind."

Honestly, I thought you announced awhile back that blogginheads had gone out of business. Had ceased to be. Had expired and gone to meet its maker. Was bereft of life. Was pushing up daisies. Had kicked the bucket. Had shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible.

No? Did someone nail it to the perch?

From Ann's post 'Blogginheads Collapses':

"...sites with big traffic, Bob says, are the ones where like-minded people get together — "where you just sit around and tell each other how stupid people on the outside are."

Headers for topics today on Bloggingheads:

Obama goes on the Offensive

Liberal sell-outs?

Reviving the Labor Movement

War on the First Amendment?

Okay, so you have taken your own advice, but you have not chosen wisely. Conservative media trounces liberal media, and it's not even close...you're the next Air America, current, MSNBC. Hope you have a sugar daddy...

Clearly a job for New Media Meade!

I was going to say Ann should go for the job.

Does a claim of American Indian ancestors help get you hired? If not, why not?

Maybe hire some good editors at the same time?

I'd apply, but they banned me. They need knew a moderator/program person. Brenda Talbot is a disaster over there.

Basically, they need someone who doesn't think anything like Bob Wright. He and his people there are too one-dimensional and now are constrained even more by their connection to the Atlantic. They need to invite more people like Althouse who are outside the Washingtonian blogosphere and who aren't career serving journalists.

They also should think about instead of having like a Michelle Goldberg talk about evangelical Christians while she sits in a Brooklyn apartment, have an actual evangelical Christian on to talk about whatever... like whether or not they're into stoning people rather than having Michelle Goldberg just assert that.

I could use a good editor myself.

Whatever happened to Carol Herman?

I would suggest any applicant insist they get paid up front...in cash.

Let the dead bury the dead.

Consider this my cover letter.

So what, Colorado Cares is hiring too. They desperately need technicians to do the car inspections. It's a very rewarding but somewhat repetitive job. Requirements: patience in dealing with upset customers that are compelled by law to go though the inspection and forced to wait an hour in their cars. Willingness to get in and out of other people's heaps. Ability to move all day as a zombie.

I did see some enthusiastic work and sparks of good cheer there, but I tell you, nineteen or twenty bad apples and it ruins it for the other one or two.

Here's my advice for BH.tv: less religion! OK, so there's one "show" that's entirely about religion -- fine. But between Sarah Posner and Robert Wright, plus occasional discussions on other shows, the site seems to be about 40% religion. Nothing against Posner or Wright individually, but the whole might be less than the sum of its parts. I'm sure there are a lot of interesting discussions on the topic on BH.tv, but I always skip over them because there are too many of them. The main BH.tv podcasts I listen to (I never watch the video) are the DMZ and Glenn Loury + John McWhorter.

Also, please, do not introduce theme music, as Bill Scher and Matt Lewis, the hosts of the DMZ, have been threatening to do. I listen to the podcasts when I'm going to sleep at night. Theme music at the beginning would be OK, but if there's theme music at the end, I will unfortunately have to stop listening to the DMZ, which is a great show, because it's going to wake me up.

I'd apply but Droopy would never hire the likes of me, just as he'd never put me on his channel.

His loss,...

It's a totally unhealthy lifestyle.

In contrast, the path to good health is clearly to follow unsubstantiated medical claims by pseudonymous internet commenters.

Hope they go back to their old way. The new downsized format lost me.

BHTv is gonna need an absolutely miracle-working hire if they expect me to watch Michelle Goldberg, Robert Farley, Bob W., and the rest of their regular complement of assholes, poseurs, hacks, and goofs. There is a very good reason BHTv has poor ratings: It sucks. Except for professor Althouse of course.

@John Althouse Cohen,

My favorite bloggingheads is Loury/McWhorter as well. The DMV is one of my least favorite shows actually.

I think there is a lot of conversation about religion at bhtv because of Wright's personal interests and because of an institute, which I can't think of now, that supports the site.

Tempting.

I only watched the Althouse ones.

Oh, and Kaus and Wright, when somebody pointed it out.

JAC: Here's my advice for BH.tv...

I remember, a long time ago, going over there to comment on one of the videos and being turned off by having to register before I could. And I never went back.

There's some advice in there for everyone.

The Megan McArdle ones were my favorite.
