Just what the hell is it about Illinois that has so many of their pols going to jail or otherwise in hot water?

Didn't one of the ex-Govs just get out of jail?

Maybe there's some Conservation of Illinois Politicians in Jail Law that has to be maintained.

Chicago politics is a particularly corrupt system of patronage. Been that way for a long time.

Imagine trying to be honest there.

I'm curious to know what one gets in return for a $40,000 Rolex watch.

Probably more than a sammich, is my guess.

He'll just be replaced by another corrupt pol. Illinois like New Jersey has a deep bench of this type of political animal. Worst of all, the populace loves them.

I thought a plea bargain was meant to avoid significant jail time.

What about that mental exhaustion holiday that he suffered last year? I'll guess that he was busy tainting evidence, and stuffing his pockets.

I'd sentence him to 5 years as the face of the Democratic Party. But of course there's no way to make it stick.

Maybe they should just send Illinois pols to prison before they serve; just to save time.

Jesse Jaxtortionist might have to do some "significant jail time"? Whatta shame.

Big deal. Much like rappers, some jail time will only enhance his street credibility and future political viability.

Most corrupt city in the country.
His wife isn't any better, but they have kids so she won't be doing any time.

I'll believe it when I see it. If it does actually happen, my cynicism meter will need recalibration.....It's a good thing for democracry and all of us when crooked pols with the right connections end up in jai.

Tradition. I have an uncle who is a life long Illinois resident and talks about the corruption as if it was a point of pride rather than shame.

Have you heard his father "speak" lately? He is incomprehensible. I am not a fan, and find victim "theology" reprehensible, but I find myself with more than a touch of sadness that Jesse Jackson can no longer make a comprehensible sentence.
