Joe Biden is emailing me, "Do you understand this?"

He addresses me — "Ann" — and informs me that "One senator is running the show in the Republican Party right now."
He's not my senator. And he's not your senator.
I guess Joe checked before emailing that I'm not from Texas. Regular readers of this blog know that if life begins at conception, I am from Texas, but that wouldn't make Ted Cruz my Senator.

Joe continues:
But for some reason I can't understand, the Republican Party is letting Ted Cruz lead their charge against Obamacare....
They're letting him? Seems to me the Party tried to rein him in but couldn't. Why try to "understand" things that aren't true? Why is the moon made of green cheese?

... a law that they're still fighting tooth and nail despite the fact that every branch of the federal government has approved it, and despite the fact that we're seeing real signs that it's starting to work.
If the GOP really is trying to stop it, it could be that they believe it will work and that people will like it, and they don't want the people to find out the GOP was wrong. But it might be that the GOP thinks it won't work and people won't like it, and they want to ensure that the people know who's to blame and who tried to save them from this calamity.

But if the GOP really isn't trying too hard to stop it, and it's just Ted and a few others going rogue, then we've got something different to understand.
Now, Ted Cruz isn't a bad guy....
So I do understand that the project of demonizing Ted Cruz flopped.

"But for some reason I can't understand, the Republican Party is letting Ted Cruz lead their charge against Obamacare...."

The questions that Biden will never understand: the President of the United States "is letting" the citizens to defy him, the US Congress "is letting" the people to ridicule the laws it passed...

The question that I will never understand: the voters of the United States let fools like Biden to regulate and control their lives.

I think that they are really, really scared of Sen. Cruz. Watched him today take apart DC gun law scofflaw David Gregory. Cruz is a master debater, with maybe 40 IQ points on Gregory, most of the MSM, and a number of Senators, notably so far, Sens. Feinstein (on guns) and Durbin (on ObamaCare). He is Hispanic, and he is principled, not having yet sold out to the political establishment in DC, as so many other Republicans there have done.

One of the biggest complaint by a lot of Republicans (and Tea Party members) about both McCain and Romney as Presidential candidates, is that they wouldn't take the fight to the Dems. Rather, they let the opposition (Dems plus their MSM allies) set and control the debate. Sen. Cruz is taking the debate to the enemy, and making them bleed. Good thinking liberals and Dems, led here by Slow Joe Biden, have to do anything, say anything, to stop or discredit Cruz, before he truly becomes the face of the Republican Party.

He is what so many wanted Gov. Palin to be,, to lead the Tea Party and conservative wing of the Republican Party. She doesn't have the credentials, has a persona that turns off establishment Republicans by the way she talks, etc. But, Sen. Cruz has the best credentials possible, from Princeton through being a top Supreme Court advocate. He can't be dismissed like Palin could as a country bumpkin. And, that is why they are scared. Really scared. And will do anything in their power to discredit or destroy Ted Cruz.

An email from Joe Biden with "Do you understand this?"--anything could be inside. There could be math, a Supreme Court ruling, or, perhaps most likely, that old wolf, goat, and cabbage in the boat riddle.

I am beginning to believe that the next POTUS is going to be HRC.

- It is time for a woman CEO of the WH.
- It is because the GOP is essentially become the party of NO, esp. for women and minority rights.
- It is because there is NO ONE ELSE with support from THE MAIN STREAM PRESS (example: No one from the NYT likes anyone else other than HRC).
- It is because the GOP has no credible opponents. EVEN I CAN DEFEAT TED CRUZ.

Enough Said.

Uncle Joe is being far too kind to the Republicans. They most certainly are not "letting" the Tea Party faction get away with anything, the truth is they have no control over them. It's been interesting watching the takeover of the Republican Party, by these extremists. Que sera sera, I suppose regarding the demise of the Republican Party. I hope the nation survives them.

"Why try to "understand" things that aren't true?"

Because: "Racism!" the Vice President explained.

After all, Ted Cruz is one of those Canadian white-Latinos.

It's not really from Biden: no misspellings and it wasn't originally written by Neil Kinnock.

There are only three or four people in the entire Washington establishment that have normal levels of testosterone, Cruz is one of them. If Obama and his group had any, Putin just castrated them. So, yes, we gravitate to leaders and Cruz is definitely filling that perception.

As to the fool that wants Hillary to be president, good luck. Her history did not come out with the 08 election, but it will now. Down here in her home state, she is known to have various sexual preferences other than her husband and other than male. Then there is the terrible record she posted as Secretary of State.

Mediocre people such as Joe Biden really do not seem to understand that today politicians live inside of glass houses. We can all see, and hear what they are doing and saying. Yet they act as if their adolescent tactics of persuasion are genius moves. They act as if life consists of putting one after another over on us, the rubes. I for one am heartily sick of all of them. They are just so dumb as to defy any attempt to even pity them.

Democrats (eventually) opposed the Iraq War because they said was a boondoggle- a waste of money and lives. Republicans oppose Obamacare because they see it as an even bigger boondoggle-that it will cost more money and lost American lives than Iraq ever did. At least no Republicans will ever have to say "I was for it before I was against it."

All Biden has to do is go outside his top secret bunker, you know the one under the National Observatory he told everyone about, and fire his shotgun into the air to scare away Ted Cruz.

That is about as far as Biden's mentality goes. So who listens to Slow Joe these days?

He's my Senator, however, and I think he's great. He's dragging John Cornyn kicking and screaming behind him, also a good thing. Weak on immigration, but otherwise the best vote I cast last fall.

" But for some reason I can't understand " Uhh, Joe, I have old socks and underwear that understand and are more lucid than you. Pull your head out of the lower end of your alimentary canal. Joe, that lonely brain cell died years ago.

Demonizing their opponents is the only trick they have in their book. They can't actually debate their idea, they'd lose.

Nice linkage, Inga. The last "Uncle Joe" murdered 35 or 40 million of his own.

Slow Joe is right about Cruz not being a bad man unlike him. But that is all he is right about.

AP welcome back. I enjoy your political comedy.

Paging Emily Post: An etiquette question here

Joe and Barry are only two of many politicians who seem to think it is perfectly OK to address their employers by first name. All pols of both parties seem to do this commonly.

Seems rather presumptuous to me.

So if Joe O'Biden addresses me as John or you as Ann instead of Mr Henry or Ms (or Prof) Althouse how do I respond?

Can I call him "Joe" or do I need to use his title?

There is a story I read somewhere that in a meeting with Sen Huey Long, FDR addressed him as Huey. A few minutes later he called FDR Franklin. An aide upbraided him saying that he should address him as "Mr President" to which Huey replied that he would if the prez would address him as Senator Long.

Not many things I can say good about Sen Long but this is one of them.

If it ever happened which I can't guarantee.

It's been interesting watching the takeover of the Republican Party, by these extremists.

That is, if "extremism" is defined as refusing to bend over and grab your ankles for your political opponents in the name of bipartisanship.

Like him or hate him, Ted Cruz is doing exactly what the majority of Texans want him to do. He is representing his constituents to the best of his ability. The fact that it makes the Democrats and GOP establishment weenies uncomfortable is just an added bonus.

Our Uncle Joe is the harmless one Seeing Red, relax. He's just silly ol' Uncle Joe, not scary old Uncle Joseph. You'd be better served fearing other people under your own nose.

The GOP is concerned that it won't work and too many people will like it.

Protecting the status quo will not be so easily accomplished by either the Democrats or Republicans. Americans do not want Obamacare because it does not address inflated costs or availability of health care.

Americans know that their labor is being exploited. They know that there is no reasonable expectation to fulfill dreams of instant or immediate gratification. At least not without also sponsoring corruption. Obamacare is merely a revenue generating scheme to normalize the fleecing of Americans.

Can Ted Cruz be my senator? I don't have a senator. There's Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin who hail from my state, but they don't count. They've never represented me in any way that has meaning.

Calling Slow Joe Biden "mediocre" is an insult to all mediocre people everywhere. Biden can't aspire to join that particular club.

As for calling the Tea Party "extremists"--I don't know. They look like average folks to me who have decided that they are just not going to take it anymore.

They may not happen to share your particular opinion--but opinions are like noses--everybody has one. I don't get all heated up if someone doesn't share my particular opinion, and I try to avoid namecalling. Usually that practice says more about the speaker than the speaker may realize.

So, that's it then. We've ran out of "try and defend" the ACA, and we're on to "He's not a bad guy, but, I bet he wants you to lose your insurance an die a slow, painful death."

I liked Joe Biden (I'm from Delaware!), but ever since he signed on with Obama, he's a different person. The final blow, though, came during the first campaign when Biden was forced to retract his statement that an ad insulting McCain's physical handicap was in bad taste. Since then, he's just been a shell of a man.

and despite the fact that we're seeing real signs that it's starting to work

It's working all right. Thousands of new Federal employees all voting 'D', top-down control by an unaccountable, unelected Secretary, more distortion forced on the health 'insurance' industry as it's seized to act as a public utility instead of a business. And the spiking of cynicism among the electorate who once thought that it had control over its Senators and Representatives.

I thought the last estimate were that, in one state, rates were going up anywhere from 60% to 90%. How is that "working?"

I'm not sure why I should care if Cruz is my Senator or not. Senators are all peers. The Executive and Legislative branches are peers. Cruz represents his constituents, and that's the end of it. It's none of Biden's business.
