"Embrace the suck."

This looks so wrong — over at Drudge:

But she said it:
“Embrace the suck,” House minority leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi told fellow Democrats Thursday morning... “We need to get this off the table so we can go forward,” she added. It’s a way of telling her colleagues the budget deal negotiated with Republicans is the best they can get.

No way I'm going to embrace that creature.

How do people like Nancy Pelosi get into leadership positions -- and how the heck is it possible for them to stay there? She's such an idiot. What in her character do Democrats embrace?

Nancy Pelosi is a good looking lady. I'd let her blow me.

Great. I can just see it now. Bad dreams about being pursued by a Nancy Pelosi sex doll that screams, "Embrace the suck!!! Embrace the suck!!!"

And a Merry Christmas to you too, Althouse!

There's plenty of suck to go around, Dems, enough for each of you to smother yourself in.

No she's not. She's actually extremely competent. She just has different goals than you do.

Let me suggest that you should thinking of her as an idiot as that might help you do better against her. After all, she is (on the whole), winning.

> What in her character do Democrats embrace?

She wins.

Democrats have displayed remarkable discipline, for them, throughout Obama's term. This deal makes it clear that they 'won' the shutdown battle but it is not much of a victory. Hopefully all the stupid brinkmanship is at an end, but I won't hold my breath.

Andy Freeman says of Pelosi "She wins."

Yes, that's why she's the current Majority Leader of the House of Representattives. Or haven't you noticed>

CWJ said...

Wow. I totally misread that post headline. I thought that was a Drudge paraphrase of something Nancy P said telling those who lost their health insurance that they should be thankful for their new insurance opportunities.

SteveR said...

Sorry Andy, I understand your point but she's still an idiot. Just doesn't work any other way. Does she have shrewd people around her? Obviously. Next up, we find out how brilliant DWS is.

If the Republicans are worth their salt, there will be an ad to that affect. I hope there's video!

Google translate gives interest renderings of "embrace the suck."

German: Umarmen die Saugen!

Italian: Abbracciare il aspirare!

French: Embrassez le sucer!

Who knows what Die Zeit, La Stampa, and Le Monde will run with?

How would Thamsanqa Jantjie sign this?

Hey, she's right. You can't get everything you might want. And when the Republicans split after all their purist bickering and Nancy is Majority Leader again, she will say "take a suck of this."

I get the impression one of her youngish staffers fed her that term.

reading through the details, it looks like it's a pretty good deal for Democrats

I used to say of Pelosi that I liked her matronly bosom. But even that is not working for her anymore. What a fool!

If she wants me to embrace the suck she'll have to open a lot wider than that.

Not really down with that whole "democratic process" huh.

Given that the Dems desperately wanted a shutdown, no, they did not win.

It's simply keeping Obamacare in the news indefinitely (given that less than 20% of the tiny number of enrollees are actually enrolled, it is going to get real ugly), insuring that 2014 goes quite poorly for the Dems.

@Andy Freeman

Being competent and being smart are very different things. I mean, jeez, is it any great trick to be elected to Congress by being an off-in-the-weeds progressive?

Of course, in spite of her massive brainpower which has ensconced her deeply into the Bay area plutocracy, she is still deeply sensitive to the needs of the little guy; demonstrated by speaking out for the 500 million a week who lost their jobs because of Republican intransigence.

Serously, this small woman is not a politician that Democrats should be proud of.
