In college, I pedaled that path every day between my job (public library; I drove the delivery truck) and home (Hilldale area). Of course, many a night I "had" to stop for a brew on the Terrace on the way home. It was a very pleasant time in my life.

Welp, those are two wonderful photos -- gave me a quick mental vacation. Thanks.

Crack, I'm glad to see that you are still with us.

You know.....that being a man is several carefully picked battles.
Suicide is cowardice.

See here for a video of a Wisconsin bear rescue.

I Googled the location of Rice Lake. There sure are lots of lakes up there! Minnesota ain't got nothin' on you folks.

Love it!! I run that path out to Picnic Point every time I visit Madison.

I notice you never blog about Ironman Wisconsin, which I view as the most special thing about your great hometown. From this lakefront path to the beautiful hills out in Verona, Mt Horeb and Cross Plaines, to Lake Monona at sunrise, the Ironman is amazing, as is the crowd enthusiasm on State Street and around the Capital all day long.

Ironman Wisconsin has a reputation for the best crowd support of any Ironman.

If you have never spectated please consider it this year. It is so inspirational!!

@Will

We covered Ironman in 2009.

I think for locals Ironman is more of an intrusion on our spaces, limiting our use of them. So it's more: Oh, no, today is Ironman!

The sig other and I are planning on dragging our English Seahawk up to sail the Apostles in the year '15 for the coffee table book we're putting together. Might have to make a stop at Monona to put in for a few days and beat my way across her...Lots of Air BnB's available...

I watch Ironman a little -- don't they run down Old University and Walnut? Or is that the Marathon? Or both?

Lakeshore Path is a great bike route. I should start going to the Terrace, if only to see my kids there. I can embarrass them.

So this is near Madison? I don't know much about the GWN. Frankly St. Louis is the far north to me!
Very pretty though.

OH I was hopeing the Prof would blog about the story from NPR's Morning Edition this morning on Ohio Dad classes! One point of entry would be the casual mention of the fact that (apparently) Ohio law automatically awards custody to the mother; another would be the fact almost all of the people heard speaking in the piece (the interviewer, the presenter, the class brainstorming session leaders, etc) were women.
