About that grouse.

"Before lawmakers could agree to a $1.1 trillion, last-minute deal to avoid shutting down the U.S. government, they first had to deal with a couple of birds. The result is a 1,603-page spending bill that includes a paragraph barring the Obama administration from approving endangered-species protections for two types of sage grouse, an imperiled, pheasant-like bird that is ruffling the petroleum industry’s feathers across the West by cohabiting on prime oil and gas land. Now environmentalists are squawking...."

Then problem is that envirofascists have been abusing the endangered species act for decades to shut down energy development, resource extraction like logging and agriculture. The frauds are numerous. I bet the bird isn't anywhere near endangered.

I believe that if the birds are listed, huge swaths of land are locked away.

The corporate environmentalists do not squawk about birds imperiled by windmill and solar farms. There are some conservationists that have squawked, but they are ignored by the mainstream press. The problem for cohabitation during deployment is elevated for windmill and solar farms. The problems during deployment are equally imperiling.

"Endangered" caribou were used to try and block the Alaska pipeline. Turned out, the caribou didn't give a damn about the pipeline.

Modern environmentalism is self-hatred.

Say it with me: "environmentalism is self-hatred."

They do it because they hate humans, because they hate themselves.

richard mcenroe said...

Actually, the caribou like the pipeline; they often bed their calves down beside it for the relative warmth of the oil flowing through.

And the grouse were arbitrarily declared endangered, much like the non-threatened Delta smelt that destroyed the Central Valley farms in CA.

Original Mike:

That's one of the problems in second (e.g. Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras) and third-world nations, where people, especially poor people, are prevented from exploiting the land to sustain their lives and improve their welfare. In America, the corporate environmentalists have forced environmental destruction to occur in other lands (e.g. China) in order to sustain "green" development.

Remember when we were warned the spotted owl was being exterminated by logging?

Turns out they were being exterminated by larger, territorially aggressive owl species. So you don't hear about the poor spotted owl anymore.

But the logging restrictions are still in place...

Radiant heating system? Enterprising caribou.

In the spirit of discovering "endangered" species, the polar bears wandered back to the observation areas once their "food" returned. Apparently, there's a decadal pattern exhibited by the local conditions that escaped the notice of special interests... I mean, environmentalists.

The grouse can coexist well with the drillers. The radical environmentalists don't want that.

Todd said...

The solution is so simple. Whenever a species is put on the endangered list, collect a few eggs and sperm from a few dozen specimens then if they do go extinct, re-create them later.

A win/win for everyone that should even satisfy the envirofascists (if saving endangered species were their real goal).

You can't fight the science!

Curious George said...

The government is not going to be shut down regardless. Sheesh.

n.n said...

Todd:

They can cohabitate with human womb banks and sperm depositors. Besides, if we can commit mass premeditated abortion of human lives, then why not simpler forms of life? Evolutionary fitness is a metric for a select class, not necessarily a species. The environmentalists know it. That's why they are not picketing Planned Parenthood et al. That's why the Left promote premeditated abortion in principle and practice, and the squishy middle tolerates its subsidy.

Grouse is pheasant-like?

Well, they are both in the order galliformes, but then so are turkeys.

BTW, pheasants are natives of the Himalayas, so according to the environmentalists, they should be eradicated in the Americas.

Exactly. This whole idea of an "endangered species" is just a way for con men to grift money out of dumb suckers. There is an entire industry perpetrating the false idea that mankind is powerful enough to wipe an entire species out and that simply isn't true at all.

Have you seen the latest lies they are peddling?

http://www.nature.com/news/biodiversity-life-a-status-report-1.16523

The idea of animals being "wiped out" is ludicrous, and is nothing but a bunch of fear mongers trying to make a quick buck off dumb people.

I bagged my limit of Sage Grouse this year and they went down smoothly with wild rice and a Cabernet. Bit gamey from the sage diet and you have to draw them immediately and let them hang in a cool place for 48 hours before plucking.

The issue is corrupt environmentalists abusing the system.

The posts proving my contention are ignored by the ideologues much the same way discredited rape accusers are defended: the Narrative of rampant environmental threats must be serviced and maintained in the face of contrary evidence.

I've offered more proof of environmental fraud than Harrogate or Inga have as to actually endangered grouse.

All the major environment big money corporations routinely use chicken little fear mongering to raise money. Follow that money.

Yes they are.
From China I think. The idea was to replace Prairie Chickens since pheasant can live on less land than a grouse and more and more of the grouses territory was being claimed for farming.

Then go to those states where they are threatened and buy a hunting lisense. Join Grouse Unlimited. Put your money where your outrage is.

Let's break down this stupidity:

ObamaCare which was passed with no GOP input or votes. ZERO.

This spending plan is and must be BIPARTISAN. The GOP does not control the Senate yet. Boehner is working with Pelosi...because he will not have enough GOP votes to get it out of the House, and Reid, to get the Senate to accept it.

You really just are not very bright.

The EPA is a deadly choke hold on all Americans. And Obama's appointed bimbo Administrators are the hired hit team.

Regulations are also a club used by Government and those with connections to Government to maintain control over others. To either protect their "turf" or affect behavior.

I've never heard an explanation for why we should care if a particular species of bird is endangered or not.

Cheap energy is important. Having 10000 species of bird instead of 9999 isn't.

I understand your point. But get somebody to say how many species of birds exist. Try to find that number. You're giving too much credence to the self-titled environmentalists. They are Leftists in pursuit of power. Always and in every case.
